Toute Le Monde: Pinup.

Been a bit deliquent due to finals.

Okay. It's 2:30am over here.

*galvo Has been asking for some pinup work for some time...like...the beginning of the year, and I did something then, but quickly realised wasn't up to snuff.

So tonight i cruised through DevArt before I headed to bed (12:30-ish), and saw Galvo spammed another journal. Turns out I had until April to get some pinup work in. I remembered my old one (the concept was funny IMO, just didn't 'work'), and though on if i was to do something what would I do...then it hit me. The character Gabo has the word's "Skills" written on his jacket as well as a old school NES controller belt buckle. Just so happens, Ichi would be horribly opposed to this statement of skills and would go out of his way to snuff Gabo unless Gabo proved the awesome-ness of said skill. Then I was thinking, "Well how the hell am I going to make something like that, keep similar to something I would draw, and make it cool?" So I sat there staring at the monitor till I reached over and grabbed the character turn arounds for Tout le monde( Galvo's comic) that i printed out what seems like ages ago. I then Waltzed over to the living room grabbing a sheet of the new comic paper I got and then this idea slapped me and I roughed it onto the character turn arounds. Took stock pic for ref, and then hammered away. S-O Two hours later, I have this, and I am actually BEYOND happy with it. Don't ask me why, I just am.

Tomorrow I have to get some video editing done cause my comp is being lame and upload some files for the launch of Zprep. While I am at the school doing that, I'm going to get this thing scanned and start abusing Illustrator. I SHOULD be doing final work but I'm a bit too stoked right now to care (and my final projects are done...^_^).

Expect something uber tomorrow or early Thursday.

Lighting Tests

QUESTION: Is there a difference between these two photos?

If you answered "yes," then you are correct! What is that difference? FREAKING render times that is what. The second image was rendered using a multi pass effect with the camera called Depth of Field. Depth of Field, as most art types know, is an effect that pushes the depth in a 2D image through bluring (applying atmospheric effects) out things that are supper close or really far away. Now, Having a multi pass render takes a while. First image was rendered in a minute using some advanced lighting tricks to give 3D Max renders a nicer look. The Second image took 12 minutes (1min per pass). Now, I took the first image that didn't use the multi pass into photo shop and blurred the shadow and some other areas to make it identicle to the second. Overall, messing with the un-multi-passed image took far less time (5 mins) then the multipassed image.

Lesson: Don't have the computer calculate (over and over again) something you can do in a few moments.

This was going somewhere before I remembered I actually had things I needed to get done. Have a killer headache too. Will deffinetly revisit this to finish the mini comic Idea I had.

BAI Progress001

Yeah, so randomly as I took a shower I got all inspired to do some work...so I did. Got about a good hour and a half in of roughing out the picture for the BAI. Since it is going to be painted I didn't worry a whole bunch on how much detail or how rough it was. Technically I spent more time with the image...but most of it was spent setting up the camera.



As you can see, I am recording the progress of the image. Should be neat or REALLY lame. Not sure which yet. ;)

Oh, and here is some of the work I got done.




Super impressive right(what sarcasm?)? Yeah, I layed out the space and now I just have to fill it in with the actors. Afterward I can begin painting (I really hope I don't screw that up). Look for more tomorrow.

I was watching A Clockwork Orange today and wanted to draw the main character Alex. Just a quick drawing mind you. The actor had this wicked grinning stare that I wanted to sort of capture but to offest the wierd twisted nautre of the film with a cute little drawing....what was I talking about again?
